Pictures With Santa
The Chamber of Commerce is hosting pictures with Santa, Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Killingworth Library.

All-Area Volleyball Team Announced
Haddam-Killingworth senior Kelsey Pratt was voted to the 2003 All-Area Volleyball Team according to the New Haven Register. Pratt, a two-time captain and All-Shoreline Conference pick had 50 kills in the two matches against Morgan-Clinton, including when the Cougars snapped the Huskies 49-match winning streak. Pratt finished the season with 222 kills and 91 blocks. She played in the CHSCA all-star game and is considering Rhode Island, Quinnipiac and New Hampshire for college next year.

Cougars blank Warriors in Thanksgiving Day Game
The Haddam-Killingworth Football team and the Parmelee brothers romped over Valley Regional Deep River in the Thanksgiving Day contest. According to the New Haven Register, the Warriors prevailed the last two years but in the second half of this year's game, the Courgars dominated. In the final minute of the first half, HK's Adam Chamberlain returned a punt 56 yards to get on the board first. In the second half, Bob Arrigoni connected with Phil Parmelee to set up Parmelee's 2-yard touchdown run. HK scored again within minutes on a Arrigoni throw to Nate Bergan. The final points came when Phil Parmelee's 13-yard run led to Josh Parmelee's 2-yard scoring run. Haddam-Killingworth finished the season 8-3 and Valley Regional Deep River finished 2-9.

Cultural Arts Program at the Elementary School
Dances of India, the first Killingworth Elementary PTO-sponsored cultural arts event of the year was a great success. KES students were excited by the dramatic rhythms, flowing dance and beautiful costumes of the ancient Kathak dance form presented by Rachna Agrawal Monday, November 17. Middle School Site Raises Questions.
First Selectman David Denvir will contact Haddam and Regional District 17 officials about scheduling a possible public information meeting on problems at the site of a planned new $48.36 million district middle school according to Hartford Courant staff reporter Charles Stannard. Fire Company Fund Raiser
The Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company is currently conducting its Annual Fund Drive. According to Fire Chief Fred Dudek, the funds this year will go to enhancing the fire company's training program. In addition, the fund contributes five percent of contributions to the KVFC Memorial Scholarship Fund. The KVFC Scholarship is awarded to members, children and dependents of KVFC members enrolled in post-secondary school. The KVFC officers and members would like to remind residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors annually.Contributions can be sent to KVFC, 333 Route 81.Killingworth c/o Henry R. Lawton, Treasurer.

Holiday Craft Fair
The Killingworth Nursery School is holding its annual Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, December 6 from 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. There will be over 30 crafters displaying holiday ornaments, jewelry, clothing, woodcrafts, toys, clothing for American Girl Dolls, and more. The Nursery School is located on Route 81. Admissions is 50 cents.

Hunters Boundaries Increased
Killingworth Elementary School Principal Maureen Fitzpatrick reported that following a meeting with First Selectman David Denvir, RSD 17 Director of Building and Grounds Mike Distefano and the Department of Environmental Protection, the required distance hunters must be from school grounds has been increased from 500 to 1000 feet. Signs are being reposted to indicate the new boundaries. Dr. Fitzpatrick has requested special "School in Area" signs be posted as well. This action was in response to the reported stray bullet found on school grounds November 19.
