The sum of $180,00.00 is not insignificant and would have provided painless funding for much of the currently discussed playing fields. First Selectman David Denvir also expressed uncertainty, based on a previous vote at a Town Meeting, as to whether there was a clear interest in Town to pursue the DEP grant. Read Celmer's Letter. Friday, June 24, 2005Pay As You Throw Committee Recommendations The Town of Killingworth's Pay As You Throw Committee, charged with looking into and making recommendations regarding the use and needed improvements to the Town Transfer Station, has submitted its recommendations to the Board of Selectmen and are requesting to have these changes voted upon at Monday's Board of Selectmen's Meeting. The Committee is recommending immediate expansion of recycling at the Town Transfer Station. These recommendations are in response to residents' requests on PAYT surveys and the projected savings are estimated at 30 thousand dollars annually in Transfer Station expenditures. The recommendations include utilization of the third compactor that is currently unused; moving cardboard disposal to the compactor, and accepting 'mixed paper' recycling. The Board of Selectmen have already approved a change in the Transfer Station Hours to shift some waste volume from Saturday to Thursday. Starting July 1, Saturday hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Thursday hours will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday hours will remain the same. The BOS has also approved the addition of a "white paper' only recycling bin. This addition was in direct response to the user surveys. For complete details on the PAYT recommendations and for contact information please read PAYT Recommendations Killingworth resident joins Yale-New Haven Hospital's Quarter Century Club Cynthia Fusco, R.N., a resident of Killingworth, was among 96 employees inducted into the Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Quarter Century Club.
