Nine Kids: One Team
The White Sox were the 2007 Killingworth Youth League Major League Champions. The team accomplished this by incorporating 3 simple rules: to have fun; play as a team and support each other, and always display good sportsmanship. There were no individual stars on the White Sox, just nine kids playing as a team. Every game had different stars and the team was able to win with a combination of solid defense, strong pitching, timely hitting, and a desire to win. The team was composed of 12- year-old players: Kevin Campbell, Mario Caruso, Jack Clark, Kyle Johnson, Dylon Pollak, Evan Wheeler; and 11 year old players: Liam Gallagher, Mike Marenna, Ethan Wheeler and 10 year old Luke Ford, who was called up for the tournament as an extra player.

Although the regular season record was about 500, the ultimate goal of the team was to win the championship. The emphasis for the regular season was not to win but to develop the players at multiple positions and to teach them how baseball should be played. The coaches always encouraged the players to try their hardest, have fun, and never give up.

This all became evident in the championship round where the White Sox lost the first two games of the tournament but were able to come back and win the final three games and ultimately capture the championship.

It was truly a really fun season. Thanks to the White Sox players, their families, and the coaches for a truly memorable season.
