Helping Hands Looking for Holiday Donations
The holidays are fast approaching and at Helping Hands, the Killingworth Food Pantry, the cupboard is bare. In order to facilitate the move from the Town Hall to the State Trooper's Building at the Rotary, most of the food was distributed to client families.

There have been generous contributions by Killingworth Elementary and H-K High School as well as the Killingworth Women's Organization and the Temple Beth Tikvah of Madison, but more is needed. The Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are planning a food drive; the Lion's Club will collect food and gift cards at the Town Compactor November 1 and 8 and December 6.

Collection boxes have been placed in local businesses including the Cooking Company, Cloverleaf Store, Country Market, Curves, Dance Corner, Green Hill Combat Hapkido, Jazzercise, June's Outback Pub and TD Banknorth as well as the Library and Town Hall.

Holiday-type foods are still needed such as canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy and stuffing as well as basics such as cereal, tuna and peanut butter. There is an abundance of dry pasta and canned soup. In order to save time and effort, donors are urged to check the expiration date on their contributions.
High School Students Take Third in Robotics Competition
The HK Robotics Team competed in the 3rd Annual BEST Robotics competition held at Central Connecticut State University. BEST, which stands for 'Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology', is a non-profit organization that gives high school and middle school students a chance to apply engineering, science, math and technology skills to design and build a robot for head to head competition. The contest is free to schools thanks to a grant from CCSU's engineering department.

H-K was one of the five founding teams of the competition and has been building a well known reputation in the event over the last few years. This year the team's hard work and previous competitions paid off as they battled their way to 4th place in overall competition. H-K will now be one of four teams from the original 20 teams in the New England Regional event that will move on to the national competition held in Alabama in early December. The team will be fundraising in the near future to make the trip a reality. H-K also placed 2nd in CAD technical drawings and 4th in game play competitions. Team members include: James Becker, Sean Brown, Charlie Negrelli, Joe Nolet, Chris Morgan, Jason Jansak, Jeff Roberge, Grant Drager, Connor MacDonald, and Lee Wagner. Team Advisor: Ryan Kish. Congratulations to the team!!

To the Editor:
The Haddam-Killingworth Football team would like to thank the communities of both Haddam and Killingworth for supporting our 'Friday Night Lights'. The turn out was incredible, and although the game was a loss, there was a lot to be impressed with. The volunteer football parents who helped position the lights, collect tickets at the gate, and run the concession stand were a huge help and are always appreciated. Higganum Physical Therapy's donation for the rental costs was a very generous gesture and allowed the touchdown club to put more money towards the stadium lighting fund.

The football players and coaching staff would not only like to thank the student body for coming out in force, but also for their energy and behavior, you were truly outstanding fans. The administration and faculty were also well represented at the game and helped with everything from set-up to cheering. I'm grateful that this opportunity was a success and look forward to having the community and student body involved like this on a regular basis at HK sporting events. Again, to everyone involved, Thank you!

Assistant Coach Greg Annino
Chili Festival and Chamber Business Expo
The Killingworth Junior Fire Company spent the day giving tours, making chili and hosting the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo yesterday. On a beautiful fall day, serenaded by Ronnie Vincent and the Caribbean Beach Bums, residents took advantage of free blood pressure screenings, amber alert registrations, and other local business offerings. Kids enjoyed pumpkin carving and face paintings as well as full access to the fire trucks and rescue equipment.

According to Chamber President Judith Tripodi, more than 20 chamber members exhibited. She said the chamber looks forward to making it an annual event and including more members next year. Proceeds from the event will go to fund training and equipment for the junior firefighters.
