Bringing together musicians from some of the area's best Blues and R & B bands (The Hornets, Jim Shepley Band, Chris Tofield & The Bluesbenders, Eran Troy Danner & Hot Dallas), The Tom Sanders Band formed in 2003 as the result of a recording project. The session went so well and they enjoyed playing together so much it was a natural. The set list includes originals, blues, soul and classic rock, including a full set of Allman Brothers. We are pleased to have Tom Sanders, a Higganum resident, and his band perform this year so check it out! I want to thank the Killingworth Republican Town Committee for endorsing me as a candidate for the Board of Education - Regional School District #17. We all want to provide our children the best education available. With that in mind the School District has set broad priority goals in place; improving the culture and climate of the district, positively affecting teaching and learning in the district, integrate the use of technology in all functions of the district, to implement meaningful communication strategies. It is my intent to positively effect these goals by listening and working with students, teachers, administrators, families, departments, committees, businesses, and leaders in the community to make these goals a reality with sound and responsible fiscal management. ![]() To the Editor:
I am still humming and singing the score from the Sound of Music several hours after seeing the production at the HKMS auditorium. Artful Living has put together the most amazing community theater production I have ever seen. The talent of the producer, cast, crew, musicians, etc. is phenomenal! It was such a joy to see and hear some of my former students, members of their families as well as other members or our community and the surrounding area. Thank you all for providing a truly wonderful afternoon of top notch entertainment. Thank you also to all who supported the musical by purchasing ads in the program. That alone was impressive. Bravo to each and every one of you involved! If you haven't seen it yet, make sure you do see one of the remaining performances. You will be glad you did. Sincerely, Carol Flanagan-Dupuis Editor's Note: Click here for more information on the production or to purchase advanced tickets. By Jerry Baron
I was recently honored to receive the endorsement of 135 Republicans to stand as their candidate for First Selectman of the Town of Killingworth. Every election campaign offers promise, and I commence my run for office with the pledge of fair debate: To campaign based upon facts, not rhetoric; to be respectful of my opponent, and to focus this election on what's important to you and the future of Killingworth. Hopefully, you share my vision and will embrace my ideas. If you don't, I hope my commitment to civil discourse and fair debate will earn your respect.
