Each year the Killingworth Scholarship Association awards several scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Killingworth and who plan on entering a college or university that year. The amount of each award varies, depending on the number of successful applicants and the amount of funds raised from the community. In addition to the general awards, specific funds are available to provide scholarships to students who intend to major in Political Science and/or students interested in pursuing history or government related careers (Kent T. Healy Scholarship Fund) or Education (Kathy Weiss Scholarship Fund). Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, character, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities, and not on family income. Selected candidates will be interviewed by Committee members in late April/early May and scholarships awarded at the end of the school year. Students will receive their scholarship monies upon successful completion of the first semester at their college or university.

If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please complete the Application Form and return it by March 31, 2008.

When completing the form, limit your responses to the single line indicated, and do not enter more than 10 items in Sections III A, B and C. Please note that the essay should be no more than 500 words. Applications will be evaluated solely on the contents of the Application Form. Do not send transcripts or individual letters of recommendation as these will not be reviewed.

• All applications must be submitted by e-mail.  If you do not have access to a computer at home, please discuss this with your Guidance Counselor.
• Download the Application Form and save it to your computer.
• Fill out the application completely and re-save it using your last name in the file name: for example Smithksa2008application.doc
• E-mail the application to the committee at KSACommittee@hotmail.com with your last name in the subject line of the email. Send it as a Word attachment (not in the body of the message); use the "Attach Files" button to browse, find and attach the saved application from the previous step to your e-mail.
