Yesterday, KillingworthToday.com published three letters that demand correction. Unfortunately, KillingworthToday.com assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of any information it publishes.
Let me give you a few examples:
Yesterday, KToday published a letter from a GOP State Committeeman that was just flat false. This morning I received an E-Mail from Lauren Blaha the Republican Registrar informing me of the letter "Where is he getting his information? Right after you and Marty formed the Killingworth Progressive you changed your affiliation to unaffiliated. If I knew his address I would as Registrar inform him he had wrong information."
Yesterday, KToday published a letter from Lynne Barone (KRTC Campaign Committee Member) that, at best, can be described as uninformed. She states Marty Klein has "done precious little". I guess she is unaware of:
Alder's Bridge Road
Wettish property acquisition
Bonding for Bosco and Wettish
Athletic field plan ready for bids
Analysis of environmental impact of Lover's Lane
Safety measures on Burr Hill Bridge -
Reconstruction plan in progress
Reconfiguration of Green Hill Road
Closing and remediation of sludge lagoons
Installation of emergency generator at KES
Acquisition of additional fuel tanks at Town Hall
Community Gardens at Bosco
Numerous repair & maintenance projects
Implementation of improved financial controls
Creation of the Director of Finance position
Improved supervision of Town employees
Proposed Employee appraisal Program
Upgrade of computer system
Adoption of a 5 year Capital Improvement Plan
Town Office Building Study Committee
Reconstitution of Housing Partnership
She can't even get our slogan "KEEP UP THE PROGRESS" right.
She probably missed the Town meeting that approved the 5 year Capital Plan this year.
Will you really give any weight to someone who ignores or is ignorant of the facts for political purposes?
Then there is matter of KToday publishing letters attacking the 1st Selectman for not representing the community at Sergeant Jason M. Lantieri's funeral. I respect Mr. Celmer's opinion. What I'm concerned about is that this issue was raised at this week's Selectmen's meeting. Mr. Klein stated that he felt he did not want to politicize the event (As did Mr. Cabral). You can accept that or not.
Given all the attack letters the surrogates of the other candidates have written over the past weeks, I'm certain that if Marty had gone, he would have been accused of taking political advantage.
There are two questions you need to ask yourself.
Why didn't KToday at least report Mr. Klein's comments
in the interest of fairness?
Why have the Democrats and Republicans used personal attacks
while, at the same time, refusing to participate in a live debate? Marty
and I asked the Democrats and Republicans in August if
they would participate in a debate. Mostly they dragged their
collective feet. In early October, we told the KWO that we wanted
to have a debate and asked them if they would be interested in sponsoring
it. They were. We gave them more than a half a dozen dates we
could accommodate. Again, there will be no debate because the
Republicans and Democrats would not agree.
You can vote to validate attack politics or you can vote to KEEP UP THE
PROGRESS.
The choice is yours.
