To the Editor:

How surprised I was to learn that two former political adversaries, Mr Klein and Mr. Amport, are now running together for Killingworth's two top elected political offices on the same "Progressive Party" slate. Their alliance comes apparently only after they sought the endorsements of their former respective political parties and were rejected by them, klein the Democrat endorsement and Amport the Republican.

In May I had a lengthy discussion at the Town Hall with First Selectman Klein about his desire to introduce affordable housing into Killingworth. Mr. Klein made it clear to me during that conversation that he wanted affordable housing in Killingworth and that he would be supportive of an effort which would bring low income housing to his town.

In a conversation with Mr. Amport just a few weeks after my conversation with Mr Klein, Mr. Amport made it clear to me that he would blindly oppose ANY affordable housing initiative.

I am now confused. Which position does the "Progressive Party" really take on this critical local issue? What positions does the "Progressive Party" take on other important local issues?

These two vastly different views of the same issue held by former political adversaries who have now forged an alliance apparently for mere political expediency, raise serious questions in my mind concerning their ability to work effectively together on important Killingworth issues should they  be elected to leadership positions at the Town Hall.

Killingworth should come first, not political expediency just for the sake of holding political office.

Sincerely,

Jay Berardino
