Unilateral Decision Maker, King of Killingworth
Marty Klein does not
like to be questioned on his authority. Here is one example. Many residents
of Blueberry Hill, Colonial Drive and Reservoir Road have posed many
questions to Marty and the reaction was great distaste for the residents.
We have compared our conversations with Marty over the course of 18 months
since he closed the Reservoir Road bridge. We started by simply asking
why and when it would be reopened. We even asked how we could help. We
asked to see the state mandated bridge closure paperwork. Those who have
received calls back have been yelled at and called a generation of selfish
spoiled brats.
We've been told to go the long way around and not to complain that our children are now required to drive 45 minutes each way to KES rather than the previous 15-20 minutes. If a resident does attend the meetings, he directs the attention to that resident by stating "Ask your neighbor, he is on the committee" or "Ask your other neighbor he was at that meeting when that was discussed". Marty's idea to details is redirecting them to deflect his misjudgments of how to clean up his messes. We still don't have an answer to when we will see access via the 10 foot Reservoir Road Bridge. On top of this dismaying situation, we have been publicly reprimanded for speeding, with no clear evidence I might add, that Blueberry Hill residents are the speeders. I'm sure the reaction of that was Marty's deflecting the phone calls from Roast Meat Hill residents to the real problem - extra traffic that BOS have placed with its detour signs for ALL traffic to go that route because of the Reservoir Road Bridge Project. Who is the problem I ask? Blueberry Hill Residents or Mary Klien?
On a side note, I'd like to publicly thank the Regional School District #17 Transportation Department for their efforts to assist all the residents of this area by adjusting the bus routes to eliminate the excessive drive time to school down once again.
