To the Editor:

I want to lend my support to John O’Leary in his bid to remain on the Haddam Killingworth Board of Education.

I know John as a neighbor.  He has coached my oldest son in youth league baseball.  We have sat together at many a soccer game on a Saturday morning; and I have come to know that John is a dedicated, thoughtful, tireless individual who cares deeply about his family, his community and all of our children.

Sharing an interest in education, our conversations often turn toward the schools in Killingworth and the state of education in our Town and in the country in general.  John knows the important role that public education plays in our society.  He understands the importance of balancing the needs of ALL the children in our schools as well as balancing the needs of our schools and our Town as a whole.  Most importantly, John understands the importance of continually improving what we do.  He is not satisfied with the status quo, and he is not afraid to ask challenging or important questions.

John O’Leary is a team player, he is a careful observer, he is an articulate advocate, and he is a good neighbor.  I can think of no one I would rather have representing me and my children on our Board of Education.  Please join me in voting for John.
