To the Editor:

I would like to put my two cents into the debate about the speed limits around Killingworth. I have not lived here for very long but since my move here I have observed that many roads in Killingworth are very narrow and cannot accommodate two cars traveling in the opposite directions at the same time.

Also lining all of the back roads are trees and poles that are in some cases right next to the road, which leaves absolutely no room for error. That also leaves little room for pedestrians. Maybe instead of forcing people to go slowly on these roads the town should work on widening the roads so every one can be accommodated. Why should motorists suffer because some engineer did not plan ahead?

Finally I would just like to point out that over a month ago I was driving on Parker Hill Road and I came across two bicyclists who were taking up the whole half of the road. neither of them moved over to allow me to pass. Now I know that we have to share the road but it seems a little rude to take up all of it and not allow for people to pass. Hence the word share and not hog the road. Killingworth needs to rethink their strategy for the roads, maybe a paved bike path alongside the road could help eliminate unsafe conditions.
