To the Editor:
On Saturday, September 29th I went to the town dump. There I met Frank Cunningham and Rich Cabral. We had a short conversation and I expressed my support for them in the upcoming election. At that point they offered me signs to put on my property to show my support. I accepted them and brought them home.
That night I put them up on the front of my property. I live across the street from where First Selectman Martin Klein held his campaign picnic. I had to go to work on that Sunday. When I got home that night the signs were gone.
Frankly, I was not surprised. I had not authorized anyone to enter my property to remove those signs. Trespassing aside, this brings up the bigger issue here in Killingworth - The almost totalitarian way the First Selectman's office does things.
Whether Mr. Klein removed those signs or one of his supporters did it speaks to the attitude of the man and the way he goes about "ruling" Killingworth. Clearly it is okay for my neighbor across the street to show his support for Mr. Klein but any opposing view or support must be suppressed and removed.
I doubt very much the trespasser that stole my signs will have the courage to admit his crime.
I have had dealings with Mr. Klein in the past in his capacity as
First Selectman.. His response to my challenge of his actions in my
case
was: "You know what the problem with your generation is? You're
just too thin skinned."
So rather than investigate my issue he simply chose to attack me. After numerous discussions with others in Killingworth I have come to the conclusion that Mr. Klein is not serving his office properly. Therefore I choose to support Mr. Cabral in the forthcoming election. At least he listened to me.
