To the Editor:

I am finding it to be extremely rude that the residents of Killingworth are accusing Michelle and Stacy, owners of Backstage Dance Center, of running their facility inappropriately.  These two women have been nothing but kind and generous towards the students enrolled at Backstage Dance Center.  I have been with Backstage for nearly ten years now and I find both Michelle and Stacey to be extraordinary woman who are helping cultivate the next generation of artists.

Both Michelle and Stacey are certified under Dance Masters of America, and they have helped raise a group of brilliant dancers who they are helping express themselves through dance.  The environment may not be everyone’s cup of tea but their recitals are proof that their hard work pays off.  Not to mention that Backstage Dance Center is not just a business to these woman because they encourage their students to go out and use their gifts to help communities in need.

The competitive dance team at Backstage Dance Center helps an organization called Kids For Kids twice a year.  They do this by performing in the holiday show in December where admission is a toy which goes to Toys For Tots.  Also they compete in Kids For Kids annual dance competition in March or April through which thousands of dollars are raised and given to families in need. (For more information, and further proof, view Kids For Kids new video at www.youtube.com/user/kidsforkids).

It is not right for these two woman to be ridiculed by town members who have had an unfortunate experience with them.  Understand that just because someone has had a bad experience does not mean that everyone has.  Also use this as a learning experience!  Teach your kids and yourself not to look at the event as a mistake on Michelle and Stacey’s behalf but a possible fault on your own actions.

So please, will the residents of Killingworth please stop playing the blame game.  It is outrageous that anyone would feel the need to publicly bash Backstage Dance Center.

Thank You.
Samantha Hogan
