To the Editor:

I can appreciate Mr. Venuti's impatience with the Killingworth Board of Selectmen's action to defer the decision to purchase the family property until another committee is constituted, charged,  deliberates, and proposes a course of action, but this is the way of this administration.

Decisions are not their forte. Pass the buck; create a committee, study, study, and more study. This administration would, if it had been put in charge of going to the Moon, still be on the ground. Decisions create problems, and for far too many of today's leaders, re-election is their top priority.

To those that think it would be a good idea for the average Killingworth taxpayer to pay $600 per year for the next twenty years to buy the Venuti property, think again, because if you put it to the voters now, or in the foreseeable future, I believe you will be disappointed.

It seems that some people are living in fantasy land, but for the rest of us that look at our 401Ks, our energy bills, our decreasing standard of living, and know that many of our neighbors are one paycheck away from real trouble; we know that this Killingworth expenditure is far from prudent. People are losing jobs, businesses are losing customers or worst closing, contractors are not hearing the phone ring as often, and the next year or so is not looking much better.

Killingworth's Planning and Zoning Commission distributed a town-wide questionnaire and the number one desired improvement to Killingworth was the Tax Base. If this administration wants to be responsive to it's constitutes, I propose they form a committee to seek out a top-notch developer that would buy the Venuti property and create an Active Adult Community that would generate tax revenue.
