To the Editor:

Cathy Iino is my candidate of choice for First Selectwoman.  She has served on the Board of Selectmen for the past two years.  Extremely intelligent and a terrific listener, she understands and appreciates Killingworth's history, sees the challenges, finds solutions. She is positive and proactive, with the modern skill sets needed in today’s climate. She puts the best interest of the town and its residents first and isn't afraid to face the difficult issues.

Cathy’s style is to motivate and build consensus.  She looks to include rather than exclude.  She listens, she seeks to understand, but she doesn’t allow herself to get stuck in Killingworth's past.  I’ve seen her take a problem, analyze it, break it down, solicit opinion, develop a plan ... and then with the support and participation of others, take action.

Familiarity with the working of federal, state and local government is one of Cathy’s major strengths.  Her relationships with our local and state representatives are strong.  In the upcoming days of JAG grants, energy grants, STEAP grants, bridge grants, and economic stimulus opportunities that may be coming down the road, these relationships will be invaluable.  She will make sure that we don’t miss opportunities to make things happen. That is the kind of thinking that will keep the town fiscally healthy.

Many of us choose to live in Killingworth for its peace and tranquility.  Cathy understands that.  She knows that with good leadership we can enhance and improve our community without losing our small town feeling.

We are facing some difficult times but there are also terrific opportunities out there. President Obama has called upon us to participate and I find Cathy’s enthusiasm contagious. Please join me and vote for Cathy Iino for First Selectman on November 3rd.

Louis C. Annino
