To the Editor:

For the September 15th Killingworth Republican Primary, I endorse Rich Cabral and Fred Dudek, two proven leaders and the best candidates for Selectman.  I also endorse Linda Dudek for Town Clerk, and Claudette Lagasse for Town Treasurer, because they are best qualified. In the aggregate, these four dedicated public servants have served in dozens of elected and appointed positions, totaling more than a century of service. I urge all registered Republicans to turn out and vote for them September 15th and again in November.

Under Rich’s and Fred’s leadership, the mill rate has held steady; and Capital projects were accomplished below budget, ahead of schedule, and with significant contributions from state and federal funds.  Clearly, they are careful stewards of your hard-earned dollars.

I’ve had conversations with Messrs. Samperi and Yazmer, the primary challengers. Neither expressed any vision or goals for Killingworth, nor any concern for our citizens. Mr. Samperi expressed extreme partisanship against any non-Republican. Mr. Yazmer had no response when asked what challenges he sees for town governance. Now they are using our town’s lean coffers for political sport. The primary they initiated will cost $4,000 to $5,000.

Mr. Samperi’s candidates for Town Clerk and Town Treasurer are inexperienced, matching his own public statement, “experience is not needed.” Yet, the Town Clerk requires knowledge of databases and state mandates, preparing agendas and cooperating with town boards – and the Treasurer is responsible for keeping records of all public monies.

The campaign webpage for the four primary challengers omits their education, background and qualifications, yet has grossly inaccurate town information.  I don’t vote for inaccuracies, omissions and hyper-partisans. I vote for background and experience.  I hope all thoughtful Republicans agree.

Sincerely,

Jerry Baron
Republican candidate for Killingworth First Selectman
