To the Editor:

As a woman who attended the Killingworth Republican Caucus, I found Mr. Lucas' letter, recently printed in The Source, to be thoroughly demeaning and sexist. His offensive remarks refer to ladies who served our town diligently. They spoke up because they worked with and respect the incumbents. Without the incumbent Town Clerk Linda Dudek and Town Treasurer Claudette Lagasse, Killingworth would not have their professionalism and expertise in Town Hall.

I remind Mr. Lucas that the two other names that were brought forward were also women. Yet neither of them have any experience to justify their nomination. In fact, one lady justified herself for Town Clerk as “playing and living in Killingworth”. I also play and live here, but that does not make me entitled to a nomination simply because I am a Republican.

In his complaint that the two incumbents are not Republicans, Mr. Lucas also shows in his letter that he is more interested in partisanship than what benefits Killingworth. That, Mr. Lucas, is your brand of sausage, and I’m not buying it.

Respectfully,
Cynthia Lippert
