Dear Editor: I'm very pleased that Fred Dudek and I are out in front with answers (in Republican Notes" A Vision for Killingworth") to the Conservation Commission's questions before they were even asked. 1. What are your thoughts on the need to protect additional
land in town for open space? "The rural character of Killingworth can only be maintained with a balanced approach that includes: Planning open space acquisitions utilizing all of our potential partners like the DEP, Hammonassett Fishing Association, South Central CT Regional Water Authority, KLCT, Madison Rod & Gun Club, and the Nature Conservancy to name a few." 3. If elected First Selectman, how do you see conservation
information being shared among town boards and commissions? From www.Killingworthrepublicans.org "My vision is to create a Community Planning Committee that will bring together representatives of all the town's constituencies. This committee will in turn be charged with recommending long-term priorities and requirements to the Board of Selectmen. By drawing direct representation from all constituencies, we will improve our focus and eliminate redundant functions of various town committees & commissions. This will enable us to solve our problems sooner and more effectively. With consensus requirements and priorities in hand, it is ultimately the job of the First Selectman to ensure the submission of timely and accurate budget plans to the full Board of Selectmen." Ultimately it is the responsibility of everyone serving in Town government, particularly the First Selectman, to initiate liaisons with other boards and commissions to share information and expertise.
