Dear Editor: It is not a secret that I am a Republican. Prior to proudly becoming a US Citizen, my voting record had not gone beyond the Iron Maiden herself, Margaret Thatcher, and I remain true to Republican beliefs. However, on a local level, I believe one must endorse the person before the party, and that is why I am pleased to support Ed Sipples and his campaign for the Killingworth Board of Selectmen. I have served this year on the Killingworth Field Studies Committee and have come to know some very impressive people, most notably Ed Sipples. He has a level head on his shoulders, is knowledgeable, thoughtful and insightful. He is patient, understanding, and truly cares about the Town of Killingworth. He has the interests of families, schools and sports at the forefront of his message and gladly, is opposed to turning Killingworth into a strip mall. He is against growing a commercial tax base, wants sports fields and appropriate school budgets, and most of all believes that Killingworth should grow with services suitable for a town of our size, but at a pace that is appropriate. He is opposed to wasting millions on a town center and brings clear, level headed thinking to the table. Ed Sipples is a true asset to the Town of Killingworth and will be terrific for our town. I have lived in Killingworth for eleven years, which makes me a newcomer, but I have observed first hand the refreshingly patient and courteous way he deals with people. Like many others, I like what we have seen. As a Republican, I will be supporting Fred Dudek to continue his intelligent leadership on our side of the house, but I will also be voting, for the first time in my life, for a Democrat. Ed Sipples. I hope you do too - he deserves the opportunity and is worthy of our confidence. Sincerely, Rob Artus |
