Dear Editor: Lou Annino is retiring from The Board of Selectmen of Killingworth after this November's election. He was recognized for twelve years of service in that capacity, Saturday, October l,.2005. Upon conferring with the Town Clerk I learned that Lou is the only person in town with five cards listing the services he has given to our town and he is still anxious to help. He is seeking membership on the Board of Assessment Appeals. If something has to be done, call on Lou. Lou and I grew up together in Killingworth! We moved here when we were young and are now senior citizens. We've watched our children grow from infancy to middle age.We were among the original members of the Water Pollution Control Authority when it was established over twenty years ago and we've had the opportunity to interact while serving on different boards and commissions in town. Lou will be a prudent addition on the Board of Assessment Appeals. With souring property assessments and with many residents' income stream plummeting, I would expect that the Board of Assessment Appeals will have numerous applicants questioning their assessments and seeking reductions. With the experience that Lou has gained participating on other boards he will treat all applicants with dignity and respect. He will provide a fair and rational voice on that board. With Lou's input on the Board of Assessment Appeals older residents will have the opportunity to remain in Killingworth and young people will be able to raise their families here as we did. For COMMON SENSE on the Board of Assessment Appeals, join me on November 8, 2005; cast your ballot for Louis C. Annino. Vote Democratic. Barbara W. Klein |
