Dear Editor: I am so disgusted with people that have WAY too much time on their hands that they find it necessary to nitpick about things that are so miniscule, I had to write this response. I moved to Killingworth 13 years ago and absolutely love the rurality and quaintness of this community. I happen to live on Green Hill Road and for years wished that there was a center line so that the idiots that choose to be lazy and ride the center of the road know where, in fact, the center of the road is! When I walked out my front door on July 16th, I nearly jumped up and kicked my heels for joy upon seeing that there was a center line down Green Hill Road! FINALLY! I cannot imagine how anyone can possibly believe that a simple yellow line takes anything away from the quality of a town or the people that live in it. I am from New York City, born & raised, but spent most of my summers in really rural upstate New York in the Catskill Mountains. I also went to college in a small, rural town north of the Adirondacks. Let me tell you that all of the roads in rural upstate New York have lines painted on them unless they are dirt roads. It is not a matter of rurality, it is a matter of safety! There are so many more things in this town of Killingworth that need addressing that I find it insulting to waste any time on the matter of a little yellow line, but I had to voice my opinion. Perhaps if the people who are so opposed to the lines used their energy to concentrate on the issues that really need their energy, we would have a new school and a decent recreation area. Thanks for the lines! Margaret Tobelman
