Regular Meeting #07-12
June 26, 2007
The Regular Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman John Himmelman.
Members present: J. Himmelman, R. Tanko, T. Doyle, E. Auer
Also present – Enforcement Officer C. Jefferson
Members absent: W. Addy, G. Rockwell
Visitors: Peg Scofield
Mrs. Scofield discussed the community garden that is being proposed for a section of the former Bosco property on Route 81. Members looked at a map of the property and Mrs. Scofield showed them the location of the proposed twenty four community plots. She said she is looking for the well on the property to see if it may be a viable source of water for the garden. There was a discussion of there being restrictions as to what fertilizers may be approved or not allowed. They also discussed the fact that invisible deer fencing will be used. Members would like to see the specifics of the garden project when they are available.
Minutes: T. Doyle moved, seconded by R. Tanko, to approve the minutes of the June 12, 2007 Regular Meeting with the following addition: Under New Business (A), add the sentence “The letter was signed by Vice Chairman R. Tanko and issued to the Killingworth Land Conservation Trust.” The motion carried unanimously.
Enforcement Officer’s Report: Cathie Jefferson reported on the following items:
1. Lovers Lane soil testing was done last Tuesday. Two members of the commission were able to
attend the testing session where eight samples were taken from different areas of Lovers Lane.
Additional tests were approved by First Selectman Marty Klein.
2. She reported that the Board of Selectmen, at their last meeting, voted to patch Lovers Lane. It is considered routine maintenance and no IWWC approval is necessary.

NEW BUSINESS
A. Connecticut Association of Conservation and Inland Wetlands Commissions (CACIWC)
The application for renewal of CACIWC membership was received. Members discussed whether to renew the membership with the Conservation Commission as they have in the past or to renew as a “sustaining” member commission which gives CACIWC a few additional dollars to support workshops and other educational services. There was a consensus of the members to renew as a sustaining member.
