Site Walk - September 23, 2007
A site walk was conducted on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 10:00 AM at the Olde Church Commons Property on Route 81, Killingworth for Special Exception Application #231, Killingworth Center LLC for True Value Hardware.
In attendance were Tom Lentz, Ed Hayash, Sue Morgan, Jim O'Brien, David Gross and Paul McGuinness. Representing the applicant were Michael Harkin (engineer) and Stephen Spurrell (construction management). Others present included Bob Broach from Killingworth Historical Society and Bruce Dodson from Killingworth Land Trust.
Commission members walked the site with the project engineers and viewed the building sites, roads and septic areas. The main hardware store building has been moved to create a 40 foot side setback from the open space. The propane tanks will be moved to the south out of the side setback area. The sites of the Society House (1736) and Meetinghouse (1743) appear to be within the open space area. Any historical artifacts found during construction will be reported to appropriate organizations. If the application is approved, a pre-construction meeting will be held on the site to view boundaries.
