Supporting Our Local State Representatives
Kathleen Amoia

The Killingworth Democratic Town Committee enthusiastically supports Brian O’Connor for reelection  as State Representative in the  35th  Assembly District and the reelection of  Ed Meyer as State Senator in the 12th Senate District. Both candidates are  active voices for the concerns of their constituents, as well as active participants in local events. They are personalities you can see and talk too throughout the year, not just faces that suddenly appear at election time.

Brain O'Connor has served three terms as our State Representative and is on several important committees. Among these are the Appropriations Committee, the Insurance Committee, which he chairs, and the increasingly significant Transportation Committee. He recently assisted local officials in transferring $500,000 of previously allocated State funding toward much needed recreational facilities in Killingworth. He is an advocate of sound fiscal policy, believing it to be good for the citizen, the state, and the business community which supports the job market.

Ed Meyer is seeking his second term as our State Senator.  Although newly elected to the State Senate in ‘04, Ed had years of experience in New York State government and education policy making. He hit the ground running in Connecticut two years ago and lost no time in learning the ropes and getting things done. At the end of only one term, Senator Meyer is Assistant Majority Whip, Chairman of the Select Committee on Children, Vice Chair of the Committee on the Environment and the Committee on Government Administration and Elections. He is a member of the Judiciary Committee as well.

Both Meyer and O’Connor have shown themselves to be hardworking, principled men.
They concern themselves with the main issues facing all of us today: education, property tax reform, the environment and open space, health care, economic opportunities, and transportation. Both have consistently focused their energies on seeking honest long term solutions to these and other issues. Supporting Ed and Brian as they run for reelection is a positive vote for Connecticut’s future.

Election Day is November 7th . It is not too late to register to vote or to fill out an absentee ballot if you are going to be out of town. The last day to register in person at Town Hall is Tuesday, October 31.
